Frequently Asked Questions...

We recognize that parents have a lot of questions regarding COVID-19 testing, exposures, school and daycare attendance, travel and other potential concerns.  If you are seeking detailed advice regarding and issue specific to your child or family, please schedule a telemedicine or in person visit with one of the physicians.  The following information is to provide general guidance.

Is Foxhall Pediatrics testing for COVID-19?

Foxhall Pediatrics now offers COVID-19 PCR testing. This testing is for patients with concerning symptoms or a recent COVID-19 exposure.  Tests will be performed in the office during the afternoon in designated time slots.  A telemedicine visit will be scheduled prior to testing to assess symptoms and exposure.  Results are available in 48-72 hours. No rapid testing is available. We are not able to test parents or other caregivers at this time.  Please call the office for further details.

My child has cold symptoms, do they have to have a COVID-19 test before they can go back to daycare/school?

This is dependent on the policies specific to the school or childcare facility.  Some facilities will allow children to return after resolution of their symptoms while others will require an evaluation by a doctor and/or a negative COVID-19 and resolution of symptoms before the child is cleared to return.  Please be familiar with the policies specific to your child's school or daycare.  The physicians will recommend a patient be tested for COVID-19 as they deem appropriate.

When should we consider getting tested?

- If you have symptoms of COVID-19, including but not limited to fever, cough, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell

- If you have had close contact to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 - within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more cumulatively.

- If your child's school or daycare center requires testing as a condition of attendance after exhibiting symptoms

How much will testing cost?

The cost for testing should be covered by most insurance plans or through government-sponsored programs.  Nevertheless, there may still be a cost associated with the visit. This will vary depending on your insurance plan.  Please check with the testing facility to verify any additional cost associated the visit such a copay.

Where can my family get tested?
